On January 25, the Citizen Planner Program announced the launch of its complete seven-module Citizen Planner Online program. At the launch, Senator Patty Birkholz revealed a West Michigan Challenge Initiative with a goal to enroll all West Michigan planning officials (including those in Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Barry, Allegan, and Eaton Counties) in the new online program.

Citizen Planner is adding incentive to the West Michigan Challenge by offering a $50 discount for individuals and a $110 discount for each of at least four enrollees from the same jurisdiction that register for the full online program.

"If we’re successful in meeting the goals for enrollment in the online course in West Michigan," said Wayne Beyea, director of Citizen Planner, "we will strongly consider such an incentive program in other regions of Michigan."

Individuals or groups of community planning officials within the six-county region identified who would like to enroll should call (517) 353-3123 or email cponline@msu.edu.
