Technology Requirements

Online courses at MSU require a minimum of the following common set of tools:

Computer System:

  • An Intel-based Pentium II 233 MHz PC; 64MB or more of RAM (128 MB recommended), or
  • A Macintosh compatible G3 233 MHz, with System 7.5 or higher (System 8.5 recommended); 64MB or more of RAM (128 MB recommended)


Web Browser:

  • MS Windows PC Users - Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator version 6.1 or higher, or Mozilla FireFox version 1.0 or higher.
  • Macintosh Users - Safari version 1.0 or higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator version 6.1 or higher, or Mozilla FireFox version 1.0 or higher.
  • Users of the AOL browser might experience technical difficulties while accessing ANGEL, the course management system used to deliver the CP Online course materials and Master Citizen Planner exam, and may need to switch to the IE, Internet Explorer browser. 
  • Users of the IE browser might experience technical difficulties while accessing ANGEL, and may need to have their “cookies” enabled.

Internet Connection:

  • A broadband high-speed Internet connection (DSL, Cable, T1/T3)
  • Dial-up requires a minimum of a 56K modem


Screen Resolution:

  • Minimum screen resolution of 800x600 (1024x768 recommended)
  • Color monitor; 4 Mb video RAM (8 Mb recommended)


Software Programs:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Macromedia Flash Player; or
  • Windows Media Player
