The Land Policy Institute leads the way to a better quality of life for Michigan's citizens through effective science-based solutions to land use challenges. We promote collaborative efforts among MSU land use researchers, other institutions of higher learning, policymakers, and community organizations to address critical local and statewide land policy concerns. The Land Policy Institute encourages and supports sound, practical land use decisions through considering social, economic, environmental, and equity issues. Learn More
MSU Extension
Michigan Extension has focused on bringing knowledge-based educational programs to the people of the state to improve their lives and communities. Today, county-based staff members, in concert with on-campus faculty members, serve every county with programming focused on agriculture and natural resources; children, youth and families; and community and economic development. Michigan Association of Planning (MAP)
The Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) is a 501 c 3 organization, dedicated to promoting sound community planning that benefits the residents of Michigan. MAP was established in 1945 to achieve a desired quality of life through comprehensive community planning that includes opportunities for a variety of lifestyles and housing, employment, commercial activities, and cultural and recreational amenities. People and Land (PAL)
People and Land is a project funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF).
PAL grew out of WKKF’s interest in preserving Michigan’s rural and agricultural heritage and exploring how farm and rural populations can connect with other partners to address the monumental issue of land use. Learn More
