About Us
Citizen Planner Online was created to provide a convenient training opportunity for busy citizens and professionals involved in complex land use issues. The dynamic and unique online program was made possible, in part, with funding from People and Land and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The online course consists of seven Core Modules as well as various "Hot-Topic" Modules, each containing a set of self-paced, independent learning units presenting the core elements associated with being a planning official. Each module takes approximately five hours to complete (units take about one hour). Participants may choose to take any combination of modules and units. Register for the modules that most closely match your interest area or register for all seven Core Modules. Upon the successful completion of the Core Modules, you will receive equivalent credit for the classroom-based program to obtain your certificate-of-completion.
The online modules can also be completed in conjunction with the classroom-based program. Participants can register for online modules and go on to fulfill the certificate requirements by completing the remaining modules in the classroom. Participants may also choose to go on to earn the Master Citizen Planner credential by successfully completing an exam and capstone project.
Take advantage of the convenience that these online modules will offer while also enjoying:
- Access to resources that have not previously been available to participants
- A connection to a community of online learners from across the state who share your desire to become a more informed, effective and responsible community leader
